Values and Beliefs

Values
1. The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.
2. Principles or standards of behaviour; one’s judgement of what is important in life.

Beliefs
1. An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.
2. Trust, faith, or confidence in (someone or something).

Today Managing Life dig into our most inner self, our values and beliefs. Values is what important to us, a behaviour, a thing, we hold dearly in our life, eg. being fair. When you see an unfairness situation happening, you’ll be the first to stand up for it. (sort like an episode of What would you do?) Beliefs, is a faith within us on what we believe in. eg. religion or a thought.

There are no right or wrong, you just being true to yourself.

Sample of Values:
>> It is important for me to have a “me” time. This will enable me to be connected to my true self without distraction. My “me” time helped me in gaining clarity. What I could do now within 24 hours: Have a cup of tea and journal my day.

>> It is important for people to listen to me because I deserved it. This means I get their attention and I am the center of their attention. I am an important person. Unfortunately, somehow I don’t get it, people just brush me off. Erm hmm…this not helping me! Is there something I am not aware off? Think….I speak like an M-16 and I guess people don’t get what I want to convey to them. I need to speak slow and with compassion.

Sample of Beliefs:
>> I believe “If I do, I gain 50% chance, if I don’t, it’s 0% chance”. This means I must start blogging, introducing my blog to more people so other they could also benefit from it. This beliefs definitely help me to start doing rather than delaying or procrastinating. What I could do now within 24hours: draft out each topic I want to blog about.

>> I believe “I am not good enough”. This means I have the excuse to not to start. This is not good! I’m not going to be able to achieve success. What belief can I install in my brain so I can be confident to start? Think……Got cha! If a janitor can be success as a personal coach, why can’t I? I believe I no different than him. I also have a complete set of human body, flesh, blood, all the same. He could be my mentor. Let’s surf Youtube to check out his video.
